Early, Junior & Senior Act – 6-18yrs
Dance
is usually Jazz or Street Jazz teaching dance technique, movement and rhythm. Choreography and other styles of dance such as hip-hop, cabaret, lyrical and Pas de Deux are also taught throughout the term, enabling pupils to become proficient in a wide variety of dance styles.
Drama
is a creative activity and is of value to everyone, not only to those who wish to become performers. It provides a medium through which pupils can express their ideas. It improves and develops confidence, awareness, expression, concentration, problem solving, motivation and promotes the use of unique thinking styles.
Pupils learn improvisation, stagecraft, and character work and have the opportunity to work with scripts for annual shows.
Singing
is the audible connection from performer to audience therefore; projection, breath control, rhythm and diction are studied. Senior pupils progress to microphone technique once the understanding of the voice and body has been made.
LAMDA Drama Examinations 10-18yrs
When sufficiently confident, pupils will be entered for examination at the LAMDA centre in London. LAMDA is a performance based examination carefully developed over many years by experts in education, acting and communication. In addition to being the largest Drama board in the United Kingdom LAMDA examinations have a worldwide reputation for excellence. The work begins with the use of voice, diction, interpretation of literature and the appreciation of a range of styles of presentation.
